Up in Smoke 67 Dodge A-100
When you think of a 1967 Dodge A-100 you think of a Van/Truck that is slow and not very stylish. Well Daniel Quinn wanted to prove everyone’s image of one wrong so he went on a limb and do something different. We call this project Up In Smoke because he will make your any car that goes up againest go up in smoke before you can take a double take.
Tuner Maneuver: First off, where are you from and how old are you?
Daniel: I am from Roseville,MI and I am 21 Yrs Old
Tuner Maneuver:How did you get involved in the automotive scene?
Daniel: I wad born into it,my family was always into cars. All my uncles have drag cars, my dad had one. Even my mom had one.
Tuner Maneuver:Why did you choose this platform?
Daniel: You dont see them, and its somthing different. I like to stand out from the crowd.
Tuner Maneuver : What made you start modifying your vehicle?
Daniel:The urge to have a badass track/street truck that I could be proud of and say I built that myself.
Tuner Maneuver: What is the Purpose/goal of build?
Daniel: To stand out from the crowd, to take something that no one thinks could go fast, and make it fast. I also wanted tp look good doing it, with a kick of 60’s gasser styling.
Tuner Maneuver: What problems if any did you encounter during this build?
Daniel: I’ve had quite a few problems, from fuel pumps taking a crap on (one during the woodward cruise at about 10pm, and then one time during the gratoit cruise). I had a msd 6al go out on me, coils giving out at the race track, the first paintjob i had done when i was 16 and i didnt know anything about that at the time and totally getting screwed over, also has problems finding parts.
Tuner Maneuver: How did you solve those problems?
Daniel: The fuel pumps were changed right there on the spot when they gave out, I also had to pull the fuel tank and had it clean, there was rust inside the tank, the mad box i took off, rewired for stock Chrysler electronic ignition then ended up going to a Mallory gal digital box. The paint I redid just this winter, I start with 800 grit, block sanded the entire truck and progressively stepped up the sand paper, finishing at 3000 and rubbed the entire truck. Then I had to redo the entire inside of the truck. Sanded down, paint, carpet the whole 9 yards. And when I could find parts I made them. (V8 motor mounts, converted from throttle linkages for 6 cyl to 8).
Tuner Maneuver: What is your Best Quarter-Mile Time and Speed?
Daniel:12.85 @ 104
Tuner Maneuver: Who would you like to thank for the buildup?
Daniel: I would like to thank Carl Weinrich for all his help!
