This Zebra Bites (2002 Wrx Impreza)
Erol Peralta could be called an up-and-comer or newbie in the Subaru community, he’s by no means a rookie.
On behalf of Tuner Maneuver Magazine , I am happy to give you all first look at his latest project as well as an exclusive interview with the young man behind the wheel.
Tuner Maneuver: First off, where are you from and how old are you?
Erol Peralta:New Hyde Park,NY and I am 22 years old.
Tuner ManeuverHow did you get involved in the automotive scene?
Erol Peralta: I have been into cars just as long as the average enthusiast, since the days of being in a diaper. Most of the family had some nice decked out car from imports to domestics but none had a dedicated daily driven car like mine.
Tuner Maneuver:Why did you choose this platform?
Erol Peralta:I bought this vehicle because where I live, this car can handle any weather of any season without breaking a sweat or part. The car handles just as great in the snow as it does in on the dry pavement. The safety and crash test rating is top of the line also and its fun having a car powered by a little 4cylinder car with a turbo keeping up with those high end cars lol.
Tuner Maneuver:What problems (if any) did you encounter?
Erol Peralta:: I bought the car with it having a knock in the motor already but I didn’t care because I had the intentions of swapping the old motor out for a new one.
Tuner Maneuver:What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of building a similar vehicle?
Erol Peralta:Make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. A build like this can either make you or break you
Tuner Maneuver: On to the modifications, What all is done to the exterior and what type of car is this?
Erol Peralta:Its a 2002 Subaru Wrx Impreza, I kept the exterior sutle with a jdm OEM front lip,EGR sideskirts, OEM style carbon fiber hood, OEM rear wing, JDM STi front grill,headlights made by JB, blackflamecustoms.com, specs are stock wrx headlights retrofitted with Infinit FX35 projectors w/ oem 4300k bulbs.
Tuner Maneuver:On to the good stuff, whats all done to the suspension?
Erol Peralta:I have Buddy Club BR Coilovers all the way around, Replica front and rear strut bars.
Tuner Maneuver: So we hear you ordered the wrong wheels, what exactly are they?
Erol Peralta:Haha yea.. They are 17×9 Rota Torques with a +30 offset wrapped in Yokohama S-drives.
