When and how did you get into cars:Back when I was younger my brother and his friend were into mini trucks I would always look up to them and told them I wanted to build a custom vehicle when I get my licence and have the money.
Influences:By going to a lot of car shows and picking up on trends and incorporating it into what I wanted done to the car in my own style.
Previous vehicles owned:1987 Oldsmobile Cutlas Callis, 1995 Buick Century, 1995 Ford Bronco, 1995 Pontiac Grand AM, 2008 Nissan Sentra, 1990 240sx.
Other vehicles you own:2010 Nissan Versa
Why did you buy this vehicle:I chose this car because when the new 3rd generation Altima came out I just fell in love with the lines of the car and the new fresh style.
What made you start modifying your vehicle:I bought the car as a daily driver and just wanted to put aftermarket wheels and a stereo but it turned into a addiction. I enjoyed the car even more as years went by and decided to make it totally one off. I wanted to be different by customizing a car that you don’t see to much at car shows and make it stand out. Basically I got bit by the mod bug.
Purpose/goal of build:To do it for me and that front cover of a national magazine.
What problems (if any) did you encounter:‘t figure why my original motor was having idling issues….came to find out I had crank walk.
How did you solve those problems:got another motor from a salvage yard.
What were the stages in which the car was built: This past build of the car was wire tuck, 5speed swap, paint, interior, audio install, and vinyl graphics.
Cost to build: $100,000 and counting
Estimated value: Priceless
Trophies/honors/awards: I don‘t compete with the car since its been redone…but before it received numerous Best Nissan, Best of Show‘s and Best Undercarriage Awards. I just go to shows to have fun and do it for me.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of building a similar vehicle: Don‘t compromise quality, I have learned that from when I started in the beginning with this car, A lot of custom work/research was done to the car due to not that much aftermarket support compared to WRX‘s, 350Z‘s and EVO‘s.
What are the most unique features about your vehicle: 1st 3rd gen Altima with Chrome and polished suspension, wire tuck and 5-spd manual swap.
What did you learn from building the vehicle:A LOT!! I tore down this car 3 times to the unibody chassis and every time I learned more and more about the car. The 1st time I had no clue what I was doing and just wanted to learn about the car.
Future of vehicle: To keep on pushing the limits of this car by customizing it to my own taste.
Any future project(s): A rear wheel drive platform will find its way into the chassis soon with a full metal wide body
Any other stories regarding the build: When I did the wire tuck I did it in the winter in an unheated garage, cut and rewired 411 wires to complete it and the car started up the 1st time…
