An evolution is any process of growth or development. For Kevin Chau, the progression of his 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX MR is definitely a story to be told. After purchasing his new Lancer, Kevin set out to create a show and go monster  that would dominate the street and track at any given second.

When and how did you get into cars: My uncle had a 1995 M3 when I was 14 and he got my hook on speed, performance and the car scene.

Influences: My friends and my family

Previous vehicles owned: 1989 Supra, 2000 Civic Si, 2004 325ci

Why did you buy this vehicle: I always knew about the Evolution’s, like when Jackie Chan used them for his earlier movies.

What made you start modifying your vehicle: I wanted more power. It is never enough for me.

Purpose/goal of build: To run 10 seconds. Pull 600 hp on pump and 700 on race gas.

What problems (if any) did you encounter: Parts not fitting right. Parts not lasting long. Parts that are poorly made.

How did you solve those problems: Lots of research , talking to other Evo owners and money

What were the stages in which the car was built: A few bolt-on’s, mild and then I went all out

Cost to build: About 16,000

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of building a similar vehicle: Do your reseach first, talk to other owners about there experience and know what yours goals are even though they may change everyday

What are the most unique features about your vehicle: The custom install of the gauges and controller

What did you learn from building the vehicle: You will spend a lot of money and time if you cut corners or buy cheaply made parts.
